Olive Jewell Ross Memoir

Olive Jewell Ross, from Iowa, was one of the original homesteaders in the Melstone area in the early 1900s.  She married Charles Greening, a prominent banker and builder who built a number of houses and commercial buildings, including the building now occupied by the Jersey Lily Cafe in Ingomar.

Jewell’s memoir has been shared with the Melstone Area Foundation, courtesy of Hans Zeiger, her great-grandson.

The Melstone interpretive history sign kiosk in Melstone Area Foundation’s park along Highway 12 presents the area’s history from pre-Melstone days to the present time (2023). The project was funded by grants from Signal Peak Community Foundation and from Humanities Montana.
