The Melstone Interpretive Sign project has been completed with the installation of benches and three panels depicting pre-Melstone history to present day (2022). We are grateful to Signal Peak Community Foundation and Humanities Montana for funding this project; to Balock Excavating for the donation of landscaping gravel; and to the many residents and former community members who provided photos, personal memories, and historical information. Sign co-editors: Adele Field, Judi Knapp.
Future plans are being discussed for individual signs depicting the industries that have shaped the town such as Coal/Oil, Ranching, and the Railroad.

An adult education class was started September 24, 2018 through the Melstone School to research and compile Melstone history. One of our short-term goals is to gather facts, photos, family histories, stories, and other information to update the book published by the Melstone Class of 1972. Please feel free to contact us and contribute.
